#NOTASCHOOL is an initiative lead by samsung that breaks down the traditional concepts and structures of learning. Filmed and conceived re covid, this project was far ahead of its time.
Not a school focuses on providing young people with the skills, knowledge they actually need to be able to meet the real world head on. Over a week, the course held at Samsung KX will offer a variety of debates, lectures, interactive events and projects to run through each unique approach to the work ahead.
Th commercial looks to imitate the energy, and alternative approach to learning that is the corner stone of the project. Lead by Charlie Dark, he takes us around the KX coal drop yard location helping us step out of the class room and into a new way of thinking.
Working with the POPs Production team at Iris on this project was a fantastic experience. We were based in central London at the uber cool new development, Coal Drops Yard at Kings Cross. With a super light team lead seemingly effortlessly by Producer Paul Beard and Director Ed Rosie and a great talent, London Legend Charlie Dark, always makes working as a part of the production team so much fun.
The sun was shining, the location was fantastic and we wrapped at the end of the day with a great sense of achievement.

It offers a mix of educational workshops, debates and hands-on projects, designed to equip you with new ways of thinking. You’ll gain the practical skills to build yourself – your community and the world – a brilliant future. Housed in #SamsungKX at London’s Coal Drops Yard, Not a School explores issues that young people told us that matter to them the most.
Inclusion, sustainability, empathy and how we can ‘humanise’ technology are all part of the course. And some brilliant speakers and mentors that will pass on new skills in creative problem solving, critical thinking and more.
